03-31-2011 The List

OK, before we tell you what you are going to need. There needs to be an understanding that a list is not confined to what it details. You may have all kinds of ideas to really get a groove going once you begin. Maybe to have the basics you will use the list, than once you’re off and having fun, you will of course change it. PLEASE DO!! Keep it fun!! We will explain the list in detail after we construct it, that way you can decide quickly what you’re going to use and what not to use.

The first thing on your list needs to be your goal sheet.
1.       Measuring Tape - 5.00    http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/bbcom/fat-caliper-body-tape-kit.html

As you can see you really can get started for a lot less than some of the gizmos they try to sell you these days. Go to garage sales, and check Craig’s list for stuff. Amazon sells used books also. Wal-Mart has everything you need in order to get started other than the body fat kit. This is a must. Go and get the stuff and come back when you have it.

03-30-2011 What is fact?

We get the idea more or less that reducing calories removes weight. This is a fact. Now we need to understand that a certain number of calories does not equal fat loss. We can actually reduce body weight and be increasing the fat at the same time!!!  This is a fact. You can actually gain weight and burn off fat. This is a fact. You can actually lose weight and gain muscle. This is a fact. How does all this equate? Well, we need to have a plan. All commercial airlines have a flight plan for their $100,000,000.00 dollar aircraft. If they didn’t first of all they would not be given clearance to fly. Second they would not be able to get insurance and then they would go broke really quick. Starting off one would need to establish what they want from their bodies. In order to decide what we want, we need to analyze or at the very least know our bodies’ needs. How active are we? What kinds of things do we want to do in the future? There might be a billion questions here. If our motive is for a quick fix and lots of complements (for a short time) then we really don’t want to sacrifice old habits for new ones. If we don’t want to do the math, then again we shouldn’t look at what macro-nutrients have to do with change either. However and whenever we want change, we will need to make sacrifices. That is a fact.

03-29-2011 The peripheral view.

So why do we want change? There are many things that people change, and for many, for no reason. Hmm, just think how powerful our mind is. We visualize something can be different and without a second thought to the commitment of sacrifice of unfathomable depth one will go to fulfill their desire. From finances to marriages changes are made. The industry of manufacturing has to retool at least once or more every year in order to keep up with this appetite of change that swirls around us as a dream that is never completed. Human nature lusts for something to stimulate this unconscious need for change. Change that is never complete. Change for the perfect Utopian experience of completeness. Phrases like, "If only I could" and "I need to grow", are just a few of the many that we hear and accept as the norm. Accumulation of disposable goods is a disease that cripples the sanity of a clear mind. We cloud our ability for the peripheral view with the desire for change. There is a concentrated focus on what we don't have, and a frenzied rush of whatever source we can find in the immediate to achieve it. Maybe this is what I sense as a detoxing of a greater deterrent. The issue we want to have most clear in our minds is not that of weight loss, but of fat loss. Then paralleling it, the mindset of muscle gain. We want to build a calorie burning furnace, and at the same time we are replacing the space where loose skin would appear, with muscle tissue. Many fear that they will appear as some Super Hero that appears on the cover of a comic book. To achieve that one would need a good dose of steroids and a whole lot of natural genetics that are there already. For the majority a steady and consistent plan will be key in beginning a new life change. There is no new ingenious short cut to obtain good health and nutrition. One just simply steps to the side of the normal path they have been traveling, and gets on the already established path that has existed since the beginning of life its self. While walking the path that we have for so long, we have  had some peripheral view of what exists on this new path. Just maybe it was clouded by all the not so good information that exists regarding how we can enjoy and be part of it. Remember what ever we want that is natural and healthy, it probably won't bankrupt us. A small investment of time and a few essentials and we are already headed on a path of change. Lets open our peripheral view to discover the potential that is waiting for each and every one of us. The only look back we want to allow ourselves is the one where we decided that from this minute on we had committed to make change, a change for ever.

03-28-2011 Do we have the facts?

So really what we think we want, and what we do about it is the real question. Do we let others tell us they are the only authentic source of health and nutrition? Do we want a diet or life change? Are we setting a short term time limit? Are we going to diet for an occasion? What will we do WHEN we accomplish our goals? Who will we be? Are we willing to change? Hmmm. Kind of makes us take a second look at this huh?.First of all no one is reading this and second I need to express and record my thoughts about it also. If someone tells us to run out in front of a fast traveling car, and that it won't hit us. Do we believe them? We actually think that they're crazy, right? What if I told you this is exactly what the food industry and the FDA and the medical field have going for them. Oh, I know your going to tell me that one keeps the other accountable. Do they? How can McDonalds keep selling bigger heart attacks without an outcry from the FDA? Did you know that the average person can only utilize 420-460 calories per every 3 hours? OK then lets break it down into macro-nutrients. So if maximum protein utilization is 10 grams per hour, carbohydrates 40 per hour and fat10 grams per hour, what does this tell us? OK, what does a micro meal consist of. Most likely a can of tuna, 1 cup of brown rice and a table spoon of flax seed. You want the facts these are the facts. To lose weight this would all be different. You would have all those cosmetically designed dishes of everything from chocolate strawberries to cheese bread with extra Parmesan cheese. They substitute this for that and tell you to have so many checked squares of protein per day along with the fat and carbohydrate boxes also. No one is laying out your daily every three hour requirements that coordinate with your workout schedule. If you don't have an exercise schedule then forget changing your food habits. The two complement each other. One without the other would be non productive. Our bodies respond to good nutrition and exercise together. Oh, there are benefits to doing one without the other, but why not maximize the benefits by doing both at the same time. When we think of fat loss by reduction in calories, the first thing we do is analyze what we will have to sacrifice or better said temporarily go without. Most of us never entertain the idea that we should move on to a new house (body) but that we are on vacation from the old one. When we get back we will enjoy the new paint job for the short while it lasts. Let me tell you, not for very long. Most who attempt weight loss do just that. There goes the muscle, the ultimate fat burning furnace of all. You can sit and watch TV and burn fat. With muscle that is. One does not have to lift weights a professional body builder would, in order to grow muscle tissue. We may end up eating just a few select foods from each group, and dedicate 30-45 min each day to some exercise program in order to make the best decision of a lifetime. Is it worth it?

Beware of the strike ball.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           In baseball you hear the famous, "Steeeeerike - - - -". Now we think that the hitter missed a pitch or that the pitcher threw a good pitch. Did the pitcher fool the batter or was the hitter fooled by the pitcher. Oh, you get it already. The two descriptions in the previous statement both say the same thing, however they are presented in a fashion that suggests two different things unless you take the time to study it more thoroughly. This is how easily we can be duped into a new idea. Pitchers are not in the business of throwing perfect pitches for a hitter to swing at. They very rarely throw the same pitch over and over again. Why? Because a hitter gets smart real quick. He has that sweet zone that if a pitch enters it, it triggers an almost automatic response to swing at the pitch. In the time that he has analyzed that it appears to be entering the zone and the time he takes in swinging at the ball in the zone, the ball can do some really crazy stuff. You see a pitcher is a salesman. He has a car to sell. In this case a baseball. He wants it to be as attractive and hittable as he can make it. He rubs it around in his hand, he spits on it, he puts dirt on it and even rubs it on his glove. He holds it in a variety of grips putting his fingers on and off the threads. The way he has his release and speed are some of the many techniques that he implements in throwing the ball. Are we getting the picture yet. Are we already detoxing the media and hype that we have used to motivate us. Come on!! Let it go. It's funny that I would even mention baseball seeing that it, along with hot dogs and apple pie are on the top three on a list of most favorite things in the United States. Wow they have us right were they want us. There is a ton of money at stake here. What would happen if they declared that apple pie and hot dogs were harmful to us. Don't step on their toes. Big business supports big business. Doctors and those involved with the nutritional facts that we receive in promotion and packaging are not going to tell us the whole truth. Why if they did, the junk would disappear along with the doctors and producers of packaged foods. Thus a bust in the Medical field and all the money associated with it. Processing would cease to exist. People would surround the soup-less soup kitchens for miles. The FDA needs something to keep themselves in business. The same with the police and case workers. They need irresponsible or ignorant people to keep them in business. There are courts that convict and impose penalties from insanity, perversion all the way to civil non-compliance. All of this represents a need that us tax paying folk keep enabling. We have developed or they have done a great job of installing fear and anxiety in our culture.

Detoxing

Everywhere I read they talk about detoxing. They have books, videos and speaking gurus on this subject. Has anyone thought to think that these ideas might need some detoxing themselves. Anyone who has money, knows how much more or less, that they have. They have what is called a balance sheet. This includes how much they owe or liabilities, and what it is they have that has value or assets. Thus the phrase, "net worth". Below is a formula for the basis of anyone considering or even in the middle of a weight loss program. If you already know what it means,  you might not need to read any further. If you choose to read on please join me in unison declaring that we need to detox the idea of weight loss from everyone's mind. OK here's the the test. Solve this and make one of the most life changing decisions you will ever make for the rest of your life.

BMR = 370 + (21.6 X 67.2) = 1821
TDEE = 1.55 X 1821 = 2822
.18% X 194 lbs. = 34.9 lbs

OK this is just some of the important stuff you need to know.
When you buy a house there is what they call a amortization breakdown. This shows what you have paid in interest and principle. At first we are sucked dry just paying the interest on this puppy. Why? Well we wanted to buy something that was more money than we had, or we saw an opportunity to cross from the debt side of the graph to the asset side of it. After all there was a time when buying a house was an investment. We were guaranteed about a 4 - 6 percent gain in value per year. What happened. People started using quick fix tactics to make a lot of money. You know what? They did!!! For a little while, they made a killing. Then just like most fads and hyped up ideas, it crashed. Why? Hmmmm, maybe we forgot basic math. Could anyone tell you then how to compound interest daily? Could they tell you the value of consistency? It appeared and was promoted, the idea that what you bought that day was going to be worth 20 - 30 % higher in value in x amount of years. Less than 2. Thus the sub prime frenzy. Because of the available credit based on fast increases in value on houses, obtaining credit was easy. The loans in themselves were justified in that they were designed to give someone a lower payment for a couple to five years. The loans was supposedly obtained by verified presentation of income and debt from the borrower. The lending institutions were to take value of the house plus 5-25% more and create a profile that showed other debt, (credit cards, car, and other loans). Then they communicated with the appraiser and adjusted the value so that they could pay off their back credit and start fresh. Most of the borrowers took their clean debt, and instead of saving what they had been paying on their other debt that was now clean, they started all over and began to make new loans and bought like crazy, everything they could. Manufacturing was screaming, cars, TVs, and everything from $100.00 steak dinners to $5000.00 trips to their nearest casino. They pumped their new debt right back into the hands of the one who had gotten them their new house and low payment.. How? The big banks were loaning to the manufactures because they couldn't keep up with the spike in supply and demand pricing. Banks gave generously, huge lines of credit based on percentages above value of assets. Why? Because businesses would buy, buy, and buy some more. Before the crash they were inventing programs and giving them labels. TAF,TSLF,they plowed through TARP and continued to name many others like the PPIP. The Public-Private Investment Program, rolled out in March 2009, was created to buy bad assets in order to get them off of banks' books. It was funded with a combination of TARP money and money from private investors. The program's main purpose was to provide price discovery in the market for toxic assets and to remove these assets from the balance sheets of financial institutions. Even if you don't think you understand this a little, don't worry they will throw at you another big word with a whole new language. Sound familiar? Fad diets over time have never been more creative. We have quack a doos on the internet (like me) trying to sell you on new discoveries and new tricks for removing weight. Did you notice what I said? Weight. You follow their program and watch the scales give you a lower number for about 3 - 5 months. The scale just quietly and crafty lures you into its warm and fuzzy clutches. It just gives you a number. You take this number and exploit it. You form a log to record each change. Up and down like an ocean tide. The scale has no emotion. Its a steady old boy. It doesn't argue with you. It doesn't flinch when you use other definitions to explain its faithfulness to you. It doesn't even care if you take it to court for draining the very life out you. It needs no health plan to fix it if it breaks or shatters from the flying lessons you have tried to give it. The scale is a rock. Unmovable. Always faithful quick to give you the answer to the question you present it by putting both feet on it asking it, "Do you solemnly swear to tell the truth and nothing but the truth," You say "so help me God" as a threat. Then the crash. You can't reach the BMI number for your height. After all, the insurance companies use this, it has to be legit. So you starve yourself some more and lament over the fact that you feel weak and cranky. You can only focus on reaching your goal and being able to enjoy some of the foods you have proudly sacrificed as you held the course for this marathon of insanity.

We try to formulate in our minds a diet which will bring results quickly and allow us to only go without out favorite food for a short time. What do you think will happen after you reach your goal and you return to enjoying some of your favorite foods. Hey, look, I'm no doctor neither do I have credentials to claim something other than the facts. I don't want to have a lawsuit because I've concocted some new sexy way of removing weight. When I am in the line at the store, they have perfectly posed people on magazines, newspapers and advertisements. They show naughty food right along with their photos and tell you how you can eat your cake and lose it too. This is hypocrisy, torture, and guaranteed failure. In this blog I will try to make it simple and non scientific. We together will understand how to mange our health, mind and soul just as we were created to do so. We will study and have knowledge together on material we've never even considered to be a part of conditioning our bodies or temples, if you want to call them that. Join me, and lets go forward together and not let the un-detoxed gurus of this quick fix society suck us into their vacuum of  slavery and bondage. Bondage to misrepresentation of facts and slaves to a system that is all to well connected to those that care more about their balance sheets than the craziness they are trying to teach us. After we learn together what we don't know now, we will see ultimately that the un-detoxed promoters are doing a great job of ethnic cleansing. Even myself who has access to the stuff we will discover, I now want to pass them on to my family and friends. Sometimes coaches have been famous for saying, "Do as I say". "Not necessarily as I do". This will be my motto. Hopefully by the time I am done writing this, I also will have put into practice, the principles and knowledge I am going to try to present here in this blog.
